Going on a tour or traveling on your own?
With many countries opening up as it once was pre-COVID, people are packing their bags and going on those canceled and postponed trips. People like to travel in certain ways, mainly two ways - solo or with a group for a variety of different reasons. There is no right or wrong way to travel but we’re going to take a look at the pros and cons of each.
Solo Traveling
1. Freedom
Many people say one of their favorite things about solo traveling is freedom. You can get the day started at your own pace, see and do what you want without having to worry to meet up with a group later on. You are free to choose a destination, make changes midway, or simply loiter around.
2. Stick to a budget
It’s easy to manage your money when you travel solo and you can choose how to use it. You may opt to stay in luxury accommodations or in a budget-friendly hostel. You may choose to get around however you like without worrying about anyone else. You can save a lot of money this way. Bargaining is also easier when you travel solo, especially while shopping.
3. Unique Experiences
Traveling solo opens a lot of opportunities for you. You may befriend several people on your way, and get together for certain interactions. You aren’t bound by societal boundaries and norms. You can stay as low-key as you like or join a random group of people and have fun.
Group Travel Tours
1. Tour guide
A tour guide can be essential especially when traveling to an unknown place. Tour guides are generally licensed and very knowledgeable. You may feel safer and more secure when traveling with a tour guide because you’re less likely to be tricked by locals. During group tours, everything is prepared ahead of time with precautionary measures. You may also get additional information about a place you otherwise might not get while you’re traveling solo.
2. Safety
Traveling solo can be risky. If you run into or get into trouble, you cannot reach out for help immediately. Group travel offers you safety and immediate help. You can ask your tour guide or fellow travelers to help you out should you get sick or run into trouble.
3. Accommodation and restaurants
During group tours, you do not need to worry about accommodations or meals because those are usually included in your package. During the planning stages of your tour, you would receive a number of different quotes and plans based on your needs. This will help you save a lot of time and money. Several hotels or restaurants may offer discounts for groups as well.
4. Activities / Itinerary
If you’re running short on time or you want to experience something completely out of the box aside from the regular tourist attractions, tour packages may be the best option. A set itinerary can often come with visits to major attractions or obscure activities you would not have heard of if not for the tour company. You will be able to utilize your time wisely and get ample time to enjoy your vacations.
